STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-March 8, 2021-The Parks & Recreation Commission will review new requests for business on the Yampa River through the city for 2021 as well as proposed use changes for current outfitters during the April 14, 2021 meeting. New businesses interested in commercial operations on the Yampa River must apply for a commercial use permit by 5:30pm on Friday, March 26, 2021.
The business is required to submit a detailed business/operating plan for proposed use, which should include safety plans, daily numbers, times/areas of use, and demonstrate understanding of commercial guidelines and Planning codes. Refer to the Commercial Use Guidelines before submitting application. Businesses currently approved to operate under the Yampa River Management Plan for a specific use by the commission are not required to resubmit; however, proposed use changes (i.e., SUP, angling, rafting, etc.) will need to be approved by the commission
Applications, either new or change of use, not submitted by March 26 will not be considered. Please reach out to Parks & Recreation staff with questions.
The Parks & Recreation Commission meeting will take place on April 14 at 5 pm via Zoom and the agenda can be found at steamboatsprings.net/agendas. Operators should be prepared to discuss their plan and answer questions from the commission if necessary.
