[ARCHIVED] SST Operates Normal Winter Schedule for New Year’s Eve

SST NYE 2 NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 29, 2020-With public health restrictions in place and Routt County currently operating under Orange Plus, New Year’s Eve will be very different this year and so will Steamboat Springs Transit’s (SST) holiday service as 2020 ends.

“I think I speak for everyone in saying that the sooner we roll into the 2021, the better,” commented Steamboat Springs Transit Manger Jonathan Flint. “While SST will not be providing longer service on New Year’s Eve, we will be on the roads so that those who count on us for their daily transportation needs have that option.”

During dinner, SST will provide supplementary unscheduled service in the evening hours to help with the anticipated nightly restaurant crowds.

As midnight approaches, normal winter service has the final mountain bound bus departing from the Stockbridge Multimodal Center at 11:20pm on Thursday evening, Dec. 31. The condominium route will see the last bus leave the Gondola Transit Center at 11:40pm. The final bus out of the Gondola Transit Center toward downtown rolls out at 12:06am; and the last bus from 7th and Lincoln (westbound), will be at 12:21am.

“I want to thank everyone, especially our drivers, for working with us to keep the wheels on the bus going round and round during the pandemic,” continued Flint. “Despite passenger limits, budget constraints and changing operations, we’ve been able to stay on the road and reliably get people where they need to be and look forward to a brighter 2021.”

SST is operating at reduced capacity and passengers should understand that the last buses may reach capacity prior to their stop. Passengers should consider catching an earlier bus if their plans or work permit. In addition, Uber, Lyft or other transportation options should be kept in mind.
