STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-November 25, 2020-Reservations for the first Ski Free Sunday on November 29 have reached capacity. Due to public health requirements, the ski area implemented a reservation system for non-season pass holders for the first Ski Free Sunday.
“Ski Free Sundays are popular especially around the holidays and we’ve already reached capacity for the first Sunday,” commented Howelsen Ski & Rodeo Manger Brad Setter. “Our goal is to operate the entire season so if you do not have a season pass or a reservation, please do not show up to the ski area this Sunday.”
For those with confirmed Ski Free Sunday reservations, tickets will be available for pick-up 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Do not arrive early and have only one member of your group in line to pick up tickets. If your plans have changed and you won’t be using your free tickets this weekend, cancel your online reservation on the website so that other skiers/riders can enjoy free skiing this Sunday.
Season pass holders are not required to make a reservation at this time, but please be aware that Howelsen Hill may have to limit season pass holder attendance if capacities are reached and over-crowding occurs throughout the weekend.
“We’re planning for a long season and need your help to ensure we’re able to shred safely all season long,” continued Setter. “So, if you can wait or come during the week, those efforts will go a long way in ensuring everyone is able to enjoy the community jewel of Howelsen Hill.”
For those who don’t make it up on the hill this weekend or are waiting till later in the season, celebrate opening day off-mountain with Mountain Tap Brewery. Enjoy a fresh batch of the local favorite Howelsen Haze IPA on Saturday, November 28 in celebration of the 105th winter at historic Howelsen Hill. For every pint (on-site or to-go), crowler or growler of Howelsen Haze sold on opening day, Mountain Tap will donate $1 to the Howelsen Hill Endowment Fund.
Howelsen Hill Ski Area is owned and operated by the City of Steamboat Springs and is a skiing institution across the community, Colorado and the nation. Skiing since 1915, the ski area has been the training ground for more than 90 Winter Olympians, athletes from the acclaimed Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and generations of families.
The city will operate Howelsen Hill seven days a week this winter from 11am to 8pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 4pm on weekends. Visit steamboatsprings.net/ski for additional information, ticket/season pass pricing and updates.
