STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-September 24, 2020-The work on improvements along 13th Street will see the finishing touches applied starting Monday, September 28, 2020, from the Union Pacific railroad tracks to the Yampa River bridge near the Bud Werner Library.
“We appreciate everyone’s continued patience as we complete this project,” said project manager and city civil engineer Mike Beurskens. “This project ties together a popular and highly utilized walkway along 13th Street with other city pathways improving safety along with main collector avenue.”
The project consists of pavement removal, storm sewer, irrigation and curb, gutter and sidewalk construction. Much of the work last year focused on installing an 8-foot wide path from Gilpin Street to short of the Yampa River. The project will focus on this final segment of the project upgrading the pavement path to a concrete one among other enhancements for this final stretch.

The project team anticipates keeping two lanes open for most of this work. However, brief lane closures may be required with flaggers to facilities east bound and west bound traffic. A vehicle detour to the James Brown Bridge is not anticipated at this time.
The scope of project is complex and has brought together numerous entities, such as Atmos, Yampa Valley Electric Assoc., and Union Pacific, working together to construct the improvements. The project is scheduled to be complete by October 16, 2020.
