[ARCHIVED] Select Restrooms In City Parks Available

Restroom NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-May 28, 2020-With warmer weather and park use on the rise, the City of Steamboat Springs Parks & Recreation Department will begin opening select public restrooms following enhanced cleaning protocols and health guidelines.

“Traditionally, all park restrooms open around Memorial Day as we see an influx in summer use,” said Parks, Open Space and Trails Manager Craig Robinson. “With increased sanitation protocols and a reduced workforce due to COVID-19, we’re limiting the number of facilities initially so we can focus our efforts on the most used areas.”

Restrooms will be cleaned and disinfected daily following CDPHE Environmental Cleaning Guidance for COVID19, including routine cleaning and disinfecting of high touch surfaces. Staff performing these duties have been trained in these protocols and will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses and KN95 masks.

The following park restrooms are slated to open starting at early as Friday, May 29:

  • Bear River Park
  • West Lincoln Park
  • Howelsen Stables
  • Fetcher Park
  • Whistler Park

All restroom use must adhere to local and state public health guidelines. Soap for hand washing and hand sanitizer will be available and stocked daily. Signs posted on each restroom door will share current health guidelines such as limits on the number of people at one time in each restroom.

When out on trails and in parks, residents and guests should practice the following commitments to containment:

  • Maintain 6 Feet Physical Distance
  • Wash Your Hands Often And/Or Use Hand Sanitizer
  • Keep Others Safe By Wearing A Face Covering In Public
  • Stay Home If Sick
  • Seek Testing Immediately If Symptoms Appear
