STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-April 21, 2020-A second round of COVID-19 Community Testing will take place at Howelsen Hill tomorrow and again on Saturday, April 25. Community Testing will run from 9am to 3pm on both days and portions of Howelsen Park will be closed during that time.
Following two successful testing days last week, Routt County Public Health has scheduled additional testing events that continue to increase testing for the community. All drive-through testing candidates must be screened in advance and should contact Routt County Public Health at 970.870.5577 to secure an appointment.
The testing layout has been redesigned and shifted closer to the historic lodge, also shrinking the overall closure area. The following closures and detours will be in effect during the community event:
- Howelsen Hill, including the immediate parking lots and the historic lodge, will be closed to the public.
- Howelsen Parkway will remain closed at the tennis courts, but access to the Howelsen Rodeo Arena, Sombrero Stables and associated trails in the area will be accessible.
- Access to the Mile Run and Blackmer Trails will not be available via Howelsen Hill during testing.
- The Yampa River Core Trail along Howelsen Parkway will be CLOSED, and trail users should detour over the 5th Street Bridge to Yampa Street to reconnect with the Core Trail.

Since community testing days are by appointment only, there are enough tests for scheduled patients and individuals are asked not to arrive in advance of the 9am start time. This will ensure facilities are set up safely and testing is conducted in the most efficient manner possible for all involved. The community testing event runs from 9am to 3pm on both days.
The community is encouraged to avoid Howelsen Park during the upcoming community test dates and find alternative locations to recreate. Thank you in advance for obeying and respecting these closures.
