[ARCHIVED] WSN Deadline Passes To Acquire Annexation Property

WSN NewsFlash 2

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-November 13, 2019-As the clock passed midnight yesterday, Tuesday, November 12, so did the deadline for West Steamboat Neighborhoods (WSN) to acquire the annexation property from Steamboat 700.

David O’Neill, a principal with WSN, informed the city that WSN did not acquire the annexation property as of the deadline. As a result, the annexation agreement has expired.

The current agreement situation is different from a denial of a development approval where a denial prohibits the property owner from re-submitting the same application. Negotiations between the two parties are ongoing.

The city still has the power to annex the property. However, some or all the annexation process would have to be repeated.

The voter approved 191-acre West Steamboat Neighborhoods development includes 450 new principal homes or units, area for commercial and mixed use, area for large-format retail, 12 acres for a new school, and 85 acres for parks and open space. About two acres will be donated to the Yampa Valley Housing Authority (YVHA).
