D-Hole Kayakers

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-September 27, 2019 -The City of Steamboat Springs Parks & Recreation Department will be conducting structural repairs and improvements in the Yampa River near the Depot Art Center and West Lincoln Park. The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 30, and be completed on Tuesday, October 1.

The purpose of the project is to repair the wing walls of the D-Hole (Depot Hole), to help maintain the structural integrity of the white water feature. Rocks will be reset as necessary and grouted in place. A trackhoe will be in the river on Monday and Tuesday to execute the planned repair work, which will be performed by Nordic Excavating and 5 Smooth Stones. The project has been reviewed and approved by the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

Trail users can expect minor delays along the Yampa River Core Trail near the Depot Art Center and West Lincoln Park as the equipment mobilizes to access the river. Please respect and follow all detours and closures along the Yampa River Core Trail during the project.
