A busy stretch and highly utilized section of US Highway 40 is readying for new sidewalks to assist pedestrians and bicyclists and increase their safety as they travel this main arterial roadway.
On Wednesday evening, September 25, the City of Steamboat Springs and the project team will hold a public open house to discuss these improvements planned for construction in 2021. The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Community Center in Community Room West located at 1605 Lincoln Avenue.
The community will have an opportunity to meet with city staff and the project team to learn more about the improvements, possible impacts and tentative timing.
The project will install an eight-foot sidewalk along the southeast side of US40 running from the Community Center to Loggers Lane and on the north side of US40 from Indian Trails to Conestoga Circle.
During the open house, the following will be discussed:
- Review layouts for revised commercial accesses
- Review the project design
- Public comment on the project
One-on-one meetings with interested parties who might not be able to attend the open house can be scheduled with staff. In addition, anyone wishing to discuss the plan in more technical detail than is presented during the open house is invited to reach out directly to city engineering. Please contact Mike Beurskens at 970.871.8273 to schedule a one-on-one meeting or learn more about the open house.
