Mount Werner Water & Sanitation District will upgrade a main sewer trunk line, which runs from its facility adjacent to Fetcher Park along Fetcher Park Road towards Pine Grove Road and Alpine Lumber.
“All entities are working closely together to ensure the project runs smoothly and minimizes impacts,” said Frank Alfone, General Manager for Mt. Werner Water & Sanitation District. “We understand that the park is a popular location; however, we specifically timed the project to reduce conflicts as much as possible.”

Native Excavating is the general contractor for the Mt. Werner Water project and anticipates the work running from early August to November 1, with full project completion by December 1, 2019. Crews will operate from 7am to 7pm, Monday through Friday. Weekend work must be approved and will be communicated in advance.
Starting as earlier as Monday, August 5 and running through August 18, Fetcher Park Road will be reduced to flagged, one-lane, two-way traffic with limited or reduced parking along the railroad tracks. However, the road will reopen to two-way traffic during nights and weekends during this time. A full closure of Fetcher Park Road will go into effect around August 20 and will remain in place until the completion of the work.

During the project, the park will remain accessible as will the public restroom. Pedestrian and bike access will be available from the Yampa River Core Trail. In addition, a variable message board system (VMS) will be placed east of the Pine Grove Roundabout with updated project messaging, traffic control notices and closure information.
Once the full road closure takes place, vehicle access will not be permitted in this area and the public is asked to respect private business parking and time limitations. Additional access to the Yampa River is available through River Creek Park, Rotary Park and Emerald Park.
