The City of Steamboat has published the final April 2019 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. (See the Full Report.) The April 2019 Mountain Communities Report is also available. (See the Full Report.)

City of Steamboat Springs’ April 2019 sales taxes are 6.36% more compared to the April 2018 collections or an increase of $82,346. For the past 5 years, April collections represent about 5% of annual collections. Year to date sales tax collection is 8.55% more than year to date through April 2018.

When comparing this April to the same month last year, the greatest categorical increases were in Construction & Home Improvement at 15.08% and Utilities at 12.25%. Notable increases in collections by area were 17.95% for the Regional area and 12.54% for the West Steamboat area.

Accommodation Tax is primarily dedicated to local trail projects since the Yampa Street improvements portion of referendum 2A was completed last year. A small amount each year is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker. April collections were up 17.22% compared to the same period last year. Year to date accommodations tax is up 17.64% compared to the same period last year.

Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax audits completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. April net use tax collections total $104,267.
