Steamboat Springs Transit (SST) will provide early morning shuttle service between the Meadows parking lot and Bald Eagle Lake starting at 6AM for the 37th Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo on July 14 & 15, 2018.
Due to the unique launch location, there is no public parking at the event. Free transportation is provided by SST from the Meadows Parking lot on Pine Grove Road starting at 6AM on both days. Parking will also be free in the Meadows Parking lot; however, there will be a suggested donation of $10 per car to help insure the longevity of the most colorful weekend in Steamboat Springs.
Based on past events, the city suggests catching an early SST shuttle between 6AM to 7AM to the launch site so spectators ensure they get the most of their early morning and do not miss balloon inflation, launch and landing activities. Weather plays a large role in this event; and traditionally, conditions are more favorable for flying earlier in the morning, so arriving early is a must.
Spectators are encouraged to walk, ride their bikes or take the shuttle due to the event's convenient location on the edge of town. Bald Eagle Lake (35565 South Highway 40) is approximately 9/10 of a mile south of Walton Creek Road on Highway 40. Parking along Highway 40 is strictly prohibited. No dogs are allowed due to balloon hazards. No smoking at launch field.
