The City of Steamboat Springs will implement Stage I Fire Restrictions at 8:00am on Friday, June 29, 2018, which will remain effect until rescinded.
The city’s restrictions match Routt County, which is expected to declare Stage I during its commissioners meeting today, June 27, 2018. In addition, the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management are also imposing Stage I Fire Restrictions for the entire Routt National Forest.
Under Stage I Fire Restrictions certain activities are prohibited, however, the public can still use charcoal fires for cooking (BBQ); may have recreational fires at private residences with a valid permit from Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue; and recreational/camp fires are allowed in permanent fire pits or fire grates in a developed picnic areas or camp grounds.
Legal fireworks that do not leave the ground or produce a report (explode with a loud bang) may be used by private citizens as long as they are used in a safe area, away from combustible/flammable materials.
Please review the Stage I Fire Restrictions for permitted and prohibited activities and contact Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue for questions, 970.879.7170.
