Join the Steamboat Springs Teen Council (SSTC) as they celebrate the Grand Opening of the Steamboat Springs Howelsen Slackline Park. Slacklining involves using balance to walk across a length of nylon webbing stretched between two points. Slacklining is a fun and challenging sport that can be enjoyed while hanging out with friends. This project was created by the 2012-2013 Steamboat Springs Teen Council members as a way to increase fun physical activity among their peers and in the community. This project is funded by LiveWell of Northwest Colorado, the Civic Canopy in Denver, Grand Futures of Routt County, and the City of Steamboat Springs.
This free community event will take place on Saturday, July 26th from 5pm-6pm at the Slackline Park which is located at the base of Howelsen Hill, between the Alpine Slide and volleyball courts. There will be music, food and SSTC will be giving away Free Gibbon Slacklines so bring your friends and family to this amazing community event!
The SSTC, in its 7th consecutive year, works to increase positive leadership development, involve teens in the community at large, and provide substance free and alternative activities for youth. The program is sponsored by the City of Steamboat Springs and Grand Futures Prevention Coalition. The SSTC is funded through a grant from Routt County United Way, the Craig-Scheckman Family Foundation, and the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health.
