STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO–April 13, 2026-April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about sexual violence, supporting survivors, and strengthening community-wide efforts to prevent sexual assault. It is also an opportunity to highlight the importance of coordinated response systems that ensure survivors are met with care, respect, and access to resources.
While SART meetings are typically held among partner agencies, community members are invited to attend to learn how local agencies—including law enforcement, human services, medical providers, advocates, and prosecutors—collaborate to respond to sexual assault, support survivors, and strengthen prevention and accountability efforts across Routt County.
As part of this observance, the Routt County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) will host a public “Lunch & Chat” on Thursday, April 16, at Johnny B. Goods Diner in downtown Steamboat Springs.
WHAT: Routt County SART Public Meeting – Lunch & Chat
WHEN: Thursday, April 16, 12:00–1:00 p.m.
WHERE: Johnny B. Goods Diner, (738 Lincoln Avenue)
WHY: Sexual Assault Awareness Month community engagement and education
The Routt County SART is a multidisciplinary partnership that includes the Steamboat Springs Police Department, Routt County Sheriff’s Office, Hayden Police Department, Routt County Department of Human Services, 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, UCHealth Emergency Services and Forensic Nurse Examiners, Advocates of Routt County, and Brighter World Child Advocacy Center.
The team is a coordinated, multidisciplinary group of professionals who work together to ensure a consistent, trauma-informed response to sexual assault cases. Rather than each agency working in isolation, SART brings partners together to improve communication, reduce gaps in services, and better support survivors.
Community members are encouraged to attend and engage in conversation about the local coordinated response system. No RSVP is required.
