[ARCHIVED] SST Service Shifts To Summer On Monday, April 13

SST Summer Service NewsFlash

Steamboat Springs, Colorado-April 7, 2026-Free bus service in Steamboat Springs will shift to its summer schedule beginning Monday, April 13, with more frequent service across key routes.

“Who doesn’t love the free bus that connects people to the places they love to go?” said Transit Manager Jonathan Flint. “SST carries more than one million riders each year and remains one of the most efficient rural transit systems in Colorado. Hop aboard and leave the driving to us again this summer.”

Steamboat Springs Transit (SST) will continue operating its familiar system of routes, but with increased frequency throughout the day and evening. Early morning buses will run every 30 minutes, daytime service every 15 minutes and evening service every 20 minutes.

The Main Line — the system’s primary daytime route connecting west Steamboat, downtown and the mountain — will operate as a continuous loop with 15-minute service and no transfers required. Night Line service returns for the summer, running every 20 minutes from about 8 pm to 11:30 pm.

Buses are equipped with bike racks, allowing riders to combine transit with cycling during the summer months. Real-time bus tracking is available through the RouteShout app, and trip planning can be done through Google Maps or the city’s website

The city’s on-demand Yellow Zone service will continue operating daily from 7 am to 6:20 pm, providing free rides within downtown and nearby neighborhoods. Riders can request trips through a mobile app, with transfers required for destinations outside the zone.

Regional bus service between Steamboat Springs and Craig will maintain two daily round trips in each direction. Morning buses depart Craig at 5:15 am and 6:15 am, while afternoon departures from Steamboat Springs leave at 4:25 pm and 5:25 pm. Fares remain unchanged.

Each summer, SST plans for additional transit service during major summer events, including Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and other special functions.
