[ARCHIVED] Brown Ranch Annexation & CU-Denver Town Halls This Week

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-June 23, 2023-The Brown Ranch Annexation Committee will host its next Town Hall outlining agreement and differences on the Draft Annexation Agreement between the city and Yampa Valley Housing Authority (YVHA) at the Community Center on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

The Town Hall will share the Draft Annexation Agreement document as it currently stands after the latest meeting. The presentation will highlight sections where there is agreement, requires additional work and areas that have not reached consensus. Discussion points are highlighted in green (agreement), yellow (close) and red (no consensus). 

The Wednesday session kicks off at 5:30pm and is expected to last one hour including a short presentation and Q&A portion. Cards will be available to submit questions as well as a QR Code linking to the EngageSteamboat site. Interpretation will be available. 

Committee sessions take place in the Carver Conference Room in Centennial Hall, 124 10th Street. All BRAC meetings are live streamed and carried on the city website and YouTube channel. Additional information can be found at steamboatsprings.net/BRAC or the YVHA/Brown Ranch.

The BRAC has two remaining meetings scheduled in July on 7/12 & 7/26 that will continue to discuss open items as the group works to finalize the draft annexation agreement for City Council. A July Town Hall is also planned.

CU-Denver Planning Studio- June 29
Approximately 20 graduate students from the University of Colorado Denver are spending their summer working with the city to kick-off the process to create a new Steamboat Springs Area Community Plan. The program is producing a community diagnostic to inform key areas of focus for the new Steamboat Springs Area Community Plan. (RFP to be released later in 2023).

The group will host an Open House at the Community Center from 4:30pm-7:30pm on Thursday, June 29, to vet the studio’s initial findings and solicit input on the vision for the future of Steamboat Springs. A short presentation is planned during the three-hour open house. Additionally, students may attend the BRAC Town Hall to gain added community insights and comments.
