The City of Steamboat has published the preliminary September 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. (See the Full Report.)

The City of Steamboat has published the preliminary September 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. City of Steamboat Springs’ September sales taxes are 2.39% more compared to the September 2016 collections or an increase of $44,319. Year to date sales tax collection is 3.22% more than year to date through September 2016.

When comparing this September to the prior September, the greatest categorical increases were in sporting goods at 10.66% and liquor stores at 5.54%. Notable increases in collections by area were 14.88% for the Regional area and 4.53% for the Highway 40 corridor area.

Accommodation Tax, with the passing of referendum 2A, is now primarily dedicated to local trail projects and Yampa Street improvements. Additionally, a small amount is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker. September collections saw an increase of 7.14% compared to September 2016.

Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax audits completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. September 2017 use tax collections are $214,108 more compared to September 2016. Year to date use tax collections are $703,210 more through the same period last year or up 58%.
