OAK STREET
Due to the complicated nature of this section, Oak Street between 11th to 12th Streets currently remains
CLOSED. However, the project is expected to be substantially complete next week, weather permitting.
Over the past weeks, curb, gutter, walls and handicap ramps have been installed. Asphalt patching and revegetation will commence next week as well as widening the asphalt on the north side of Oak Street to allow for a westbound bike lane.
Detours are in place from Native Excavating assisting individuals looking to access westbound or eastbound US40/Lincoln Avenue. Westbound access is recommend via 12th Street. While eastbound drivers should use Pine or Crawford to 11th Street taking advantage of the signal for a left turn onto Lincoln Ave.
YAMPA STREET
Work is winding down along Yampa Street near the 10th Street intersection as crews installed final landscape treatments and a new riparian fence along the Yampa River Core Trail. In addition, the public parking lot at 9th & Yampa continued work to reconstruct the lot and make drainage improvements. The public parking lot at 9th & Yampa will remain closed for one more week as this work wraps up.
Yampa Street efforts for the upcoming week of October 9-13 for both Phase I and II include:
Yampa Street Phase I:
- Crews will begin to install the final hardscape, a sidewalk connection and landscaping near the 6th Street intersection. Some portions of the park and adjacent public parking will be closed and pedestrians will be safely routed around the work area.
Yampa Street Phase II:
- Work will include final hardscape and paving in the 9th & Yampa parking lot as well as pavement patching between 9th and 12th Streets along Yampa Street. In the later part of the week construction crews will move to the 12th Street and Lincoln Avenue corner to modify the existing concrete bulb-out.
- In the coming weeks there will be continued construction activity between 9th and 12th Streets along Yampa Street as crews finish punch list work.
- All businesses will remain accessible at all times
- This work is associated with the Yampa Street Phase II improvements which is expected to be completed by November 1, 2017
EMERALD PARK ACCESS & RR CROSSING
Roadway closures continue to extend down from Trafalgar to entrance of the Hampton Inn, where crews focus on rebuilding the Ski Time Way road section towards Trafalgar. Pipe crews are also expected to finish installing stormwater improvements shortly. Access to all businesses will kept open thru current closure and detour signs direct motorists accordingly.
For the week of October 9-13, the project includes:
- Curb/gutter and sidewalk prep
- Scupper drains
- Rebuilding road section behind car wash through Trafalgar

MAJESTIC VALLEY CIRCLE/STEAMBOAT HOTEL
This project, which started earlier this month, includes the construction of a bus shelter on a concrete pad (relocating the existing shelter in the Steamboat Hotel parking lot) as well as curb and gutter and an attached 6-foot sidewalk which will connect to the existing Majestic Valley sidewalk along Majestic Valley Circle.
For the upcoming week of October 9-13, work will consist of asphalt patchback and placement of the 6 foot sidewalk and bus shelter pad. Revegetation will follow and the project is expected to be substantially complete next week, weather permitting. The transit stop is being funded 80% by an FTA Grant obtained by the City in 2016 via CDOT.
STONE LANE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
The Stone Lane bridge on the Walton Creek Trail remains closed for a bridge refurbishment project that includes re-decking and painting of the entire structure. There will be no access across the bridge for the duration of the project which started Sept 12. Work is expected to last one month, weather permitting.
Access to the Walton Creek Trail will be via the Chinook Lane trail access. A signed detour will be posted from the Stone Lane trail access to the Chinook Lane trail access for the duration of the project.
US 40 STEAMBOAT WEST
CDOT crews continue to work on improvements to the intersection of US 40 and Elk River Road with expected completion of the project by late November. Traffic speed through the work zone remain at 25 mph.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS TRANSIT
Steamboat Springs Transit has relocated three transit stops. The Fairfield Inn bus stop is not available for passenger pick-up/drop-off in this location as buses will only be turning around in the driveway/US Highway 40. Passengers need to use the Steamboat Hotel or Holiday Inn bus stops due to hotel construction in this area.
On the west side of town, the Elk River Road bus stop has been temporarily moved to the east (towards downtown). Temporary bus stop signage with departure times is displayed at the stop. In addition, riders can find out when the next bus is expected to arrive with the RouteShout app available on iPhones and Androids as well as view buses in real-time via the web portal on the transit home page on the city’s website.
The Copper Mountain Estates bus stop, near Indian Trails westbound, moved due to a construction project at Indian Trails and Highway 40. A temporary stop, approximately 100 feet closer to downtown, has been set up. If you have questions or need more information please contact Steamboat Springs Transit at 970.879.3717.
BUSINESSES OPEN
Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority and all business remain open during construction. Signage and wayfinding continue to be installed during the required closures. Please respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas. Construction hours run from 7am-7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am-5pm on Friday.
