WeekofOct31ConstructionMap.JPG

Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and Oak Street work began September 6. Both projects will continue the week of October 31.

 YAMPA STREET UPDATE:

CLOSURE WEEK OF OCTOBER 31:  Continuing on Monday, October 31, Yampa Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 6th and 8th Streets, including the 7th Street intersection.  The 6th Street intersection will also be closed for a few days during the week to complete electrical undergrounding work. Portions of the sidewalk on the south side of Yampa will be closed intermittently and pedestrians will be routed around the sidewalk closure throughout the week. Pedestrian crossing corridors will remain open between 7th and 8th Streets and between 6th and 7th Streets. The public parking lot at 7th and Yampa Street will remain open but only accessible from 7th Street.

Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas. Shoppers and visitors are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th and Yampa Street parking lot, Rodeo Grounds parking lot and Howelsen Hill parking lots, with easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th or 5th Street bridges.

Construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am – 5pm on Fridays. Construction work on Saturdays will continue and workers will be authorized to work from 8am to 4pm those days.

PROGRESS UPDATE: During the week of October 24, Duckels Construction completed paving from 12th to 8th Streets.  Work also included concrete and streetscape work on the north and south sides between 6th and 8th streets including utility undergrounding connections to various properties.   The raised intersection within the roadway at the 7th Street intersection is complete.

PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETINGS: Public information meetings are scheduled for 9 a.m. on selected Fridays until winter shutdown. The next meeting is scheduled for November 4th at Aurum Food & Wine, 811 Yampa St.

 OAK STREET UPDATE:

CLOSURE WEEK OF October 31: Shoulder closures will be in affect along both sides of Oak Street between 4th and 5th Streets and along the east side of 5th Street between Oak Street and the Lincoln Avenue alley.  On-street parking in these areas will be closed for significant portions of the week. Work will include curb and gutter, sidewalk, and streetscape.  Accesses to the Horizons Specialized Services office and to the Holistic Health Center will be restricted. Pedestrian access to buildings will be maintained along the existing sidewalks.  Through access along Oak Street will be open throughout the week.

Shoulder closures for work associated with reconstruction of the United Methodist Church are also underway along Oak Street between 7th Street and 8th Street.   The City and the church are coordinating work efforts to complete work along that block this fall.

Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas. The project team will continue to communicate with individual owners and tenants on Oak Street as work progresses.

PROGRESS UPDATE: During the week of October 24, Native Excavating completed installation of drainage improvements at the 5th and Oak intersection.  Crews completed sidewalk on the northeastern corner of the 4th and Oak intersection and prepared areas for streetscape work.  Underground conduit for intersection street lights were also completed near the Oak Street intersections with 7th and 9th Streets.

A construction hotline will be updated frequently; the number to call is 970-871-7052. Information on the overall project is available on the city’s website at: www.diggindowntown.com.
