A final draft of the US Highway 40 East Steamboat Springs Access Study has been completed by the City of Steamboat Springs, Stolfus & Associates, Inc., CDOT, Routt County, and the US Forest Service. The plan will be presented to City Council for adoption on June 21st. The study is available on the city’s website at http://steamboatsprings.net/index.aspx?nid=521.
As the City and surrounding area grow, traffic will continue to grow on US 40. The purpose of the access study is to identify access improvements that can be made as sites redevelop to help improve safety, efficiency and extend capacity along the corridor. The goal of the project is to develop an access control plan for approval by the CDOT Transportation Commission, City Council, Board of County Commissioners, and US Forest Service. City staff, developers, and property owners can then use the plan as a template to guide future development and redevelopment.
