ATTENTION HOMEOWNERS AND LANDSCAPERS:
As the community continues to grow, we must enforce our Community Development Code relative to landscaping in the right-of-way. This is the only way we can continue to provide efficient and cost effective snow removal operations for everyone. Section V.10.1.3 of the Steamboat Springs Community Development Code states: “Snow storage areas must be free of fences, landscaping (except for ground cover), retaining walls, and other obstructions of a similar nature.” A minimum of fifteen (15) feet from edge of pavement is reserved for snow storage within street rights-of-way.
We therefore ask you to remove any landscaping material, other than vegetative ground cover, from the street right-of-way for a distance of at least ten (10) feet from the edge of asphalt. This will hopefully reduce the amount of damage and down time to heavy equipment and help in our efforts to provide timely and cost effective snow removal operations for the entire community. The City will not be responsible for any damage to the landscaping that is placed within any public right-of-way.
We request and appreciate your cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact David Van Winkle or Tom Martindale at the Public Works Shop at 879-1807.
