[ARCHIVED] Casey's Pond Trail Project Ribbon Cutting

The City of Steamboat Springs and Duckels Construction have completed construction to install a new concrete trail near the intersection of US Highway 40 and Walton Creek Road, near Casey’s Pond. Construction started in late April of this year and finished on time and under budget.

A formal Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held on Monday, June 23 at 4:00pm on the trail.

In 2010 the City was awarded a grant by the Federal Highway Administration through the Colorado Department of Transportation for designing and constructing a new concrete trail around the perimeter of Casey’s Pond, known as the Casey’s Pond trail project. Design work was conducted by local engineer Bob Furman of Civil Design Consultants.

The Casey’s Pond trail project consists of a new 400 linear foot segment of concrete trail adjacent to Walton Creek Road, and the replacement of a seriously degraded asphalt trail along Highway 40 with a 650 linear foot concrete trail. This project enables pedestrians and bicyclists to safely commute between trails in the mountain area and make connections to the Owl Hoot Trail, Pine Grove Road and Highway 40 corridors, and will enhance bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
