Short-Term Rental Complaint Hotline Live

STR Hotline NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 19, 2023-The Short-Term Rental (STR) Complaint Hotline will go live starting tomorrow, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, for municipal code complaints regarding Short-Term Rental units within city limits. Individuals may call 970.788.3344 or complete the online form to report a violation.

“We’ve been working toward this component and glad it is ready ahead of the upcoming holiday vacation period,” said Planning & Community Development Director Rebecca Bessey. “We highly recommend that STR owners and property managers add the hotline number to their contacts to be able to identify the call and respond quickly.”

To report an issue or submit a complaint regarding a Short-Term Rental, individuals can now call the Complaint Hotline (970.788.3344) or complete the online form. Issues may include noise, parking violations, occupancy-limit violations, pet issues, feeding wildlife, trash issues or other code violations.

To report a complaint, callers should be prepared to provide specific details, such as the address of the short-term rental, nature of the issue, and any relevant observations. The more information provided, the better enforcement staff can address and resolve the complaint.

Once a complaint is received, the local responsible party will be notified and is required to respond within 1 hour of being notified of the complaint between the hours of 6:00 am and 10:00 pm and within 30 minutes of being notified of the complaint between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:00 am.

Property owners found in violation of regulations may be subject to a hearing and face penalties. Complaints are considered public records and may be subject to Open Records Laws.

Reporting parties can inquire about the status of a complaint by contacting the STR Compliance Officer, Samantha Harles, via email. Information on Short-Term Rentals can be found at steamboatsprings.net/STR
