Vette NewsFlash1

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-July 29, 2022-Steamobat Springs will be charged up when the 47th Annual Vettes on the Rockies motors into town August 4-7. Yampa Street and a portion of 12th will be closed on Saturday, August 6, for the must-see corvette car show.

Saturday’s Corvette event is a car lover’s dream. Chevrolet Corvettes from throughout the years will be on display up and down Yampa Street. The event is free and open to the public and features classics editions of this vintage US muscle car to newer versions of the powerful model.

The Chevrolet Corvette, colloquially known as the 'Vette’, is a two-door, two-passenger luxury manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet since 1953. With eight design generations, noted sequentially from C1 to C8, the Corvette is noted for its performance and distinctive fiberglass or composite panels. The Corvette is currently the only two-seat sports car produced by a major domestic auto manufacturer and has become an American icon.

Yampa Street from 8th to 12th Street and 12th Street from Yampa to Lincoln Avenue will be closed from 6am to 5pm for set up, car staging and clean up on Saturday. The car show, featuring the original American sports car, runs from 9am to 1pm and showcases six different classes of Corvettes. Due to the number of spectators as well as number of cars, please walk bikes through the car show.

Display vehicles will be utilizing 9th Street to access the car show venue and registration tent on the corner of 9th and Yampa Street. Anyone headed to the free car show, should walk, bike, or ride the Free SST bus or use their lodging shuttle. Free parking is available in the Howelsen Hill Park including the ski area, a short walk to Yampa Street.

Vettes on the Rockies is put on by Looking Glass Corvette Association, a Colorado not-for-profit organization formed in 1973. The group is a car club, first and foremost, with a shared passion for owning and promoting the original American sports car – the Corvette. In addition, a variety of charities are supported by its membership.
