STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-April 28, 2021-Exciting things are coming to Little Toots Park this fall as the city announces that it has secured funding to replace the existing playground and make trail and landscaping improvements in the park.
“Little Toots has been a community favorite for years,” said Parks Supervisor Ernie Jenkins. “That’s why it’s important for us to have feedback from the community, and especially kids, on what they want to see there for the future.”
The existing playground was installed in 1995 and has provided a fun and safe location for youth play and family enjoyment for nearly three decades.
Playground manufacturer Little Tikes Commercial has unveiled three different playground options, all offering inclusive play for 2 to 12-year-old children. Illustrations of the three concepts are currently available for review to determine the preferred choice.
A brief questionnaire will gather input on playground use, layout options and color schemes. Ideally, staff would love to receive youth feedback vs. adult feedback and asks parents and childcare facilities to share this information with your children.
To provide feedback on the proposed playground designs and color options, visit the project page on Engage Steamboat at www.engagesteamboat.net/littletoots. The online survey and comment period will run through Wednesday, May 12.
Installation of the new playground is anticipated to occur in September of 2021. In addition, landscape improvements will include a new concrete walkway around the playground space with benches for rest and playground viewing. A new concrete walkway will connect to the existing gazebo in the park and a new concrete sidewalk will replace the deteriorating asphalt trail that leads to the bridge to the library.
