[ARCHIVED] FREE Christmas Tree Recycling Available This Season

Tree Recycling NewsFlash

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 23, 2020-In this instance, regifting is totally okay. In fact, we encourage it! The gift of giving continues this holiday season when you recycle your Christmas tree with the City of Steamboat Springs, letting it live on as mulch for city parks and residents.

“The city has provided this free service to the community for decades,” said Parks Supervisor Ernie Jenkins. “When you harvest a tree from the forest, we’re helping improve forest health by thinning crowded areas. We can take that even further by recycling your tree and allowing it to continue to give long after the holidays.”

Safely dispose of your natural Christmas tree for free starting Saturday, December 26 through the end of February by dropping it off in the northwest corner of the Howelsen Ice Complex parking lot.

Drop off is available seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. The city will take it just like you found it – AU NATUREL. That means all tinsel, ornaments, lights, nails, etc., must be removed before dropping off.  NO WREATHS accepted

The mulch will be provided to residents on a first-come, first-serve basis in the spring as well as used in city parks during the coming year.
