[ARCHIVED] June 2013 Preliminary Sales Tax Report

The City of Steamboat has published the preliminary June 2013 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. (See the Full Report.)

City of Steamboat Springs’ June sales taxes are 2.20% more than the June 2012 collections, an increase of $30,471. This follows with the current economic trend in Routt County of moderate steady growth. The highest increase of sales in a category was seen in Sporting Goods, with an increase of 17.13%, with Lodging and Amenities a close second with an increase of 11.04%. Mountain sales saw the highest area increase with 13.27%.

Accommodation Tax, which is currently used to fund Haymaker debt payments, saw an increase of 11.31% compared to the same time period in 2012, and is up 8.88% year to date.

The Local Marketing District Air Service Sales Tax, with a rate of .25%, saw an increase of 3.12% over June 2012. Year to Date, the Air Service tax is up 16.32%. This tax began January 1, 2012 and is held separately from the City of Steamboat Springs sales tax.

Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax audits completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. June 2013 showed a decrease of $1,377 below June 2012, and currently shows an increase of $112,934 year to date.
