“We’re fortunate to have Tom join our team and city,” said City Manager Suiter. “His breadth of experience and knowledge combined with his familiarity with Steamboat Springs will be a significant asset to the community. In these positions, he oversaw more than 80 employees, was responsible for an annual budget of nearly $9M, guided key service areas across the city, and managed significant projects involving multiple government agencies.
While in Steamboat Springs, he held the position of Planning & Community Development Director from 2005 to 2010 as well as Assistant Director, Senior Planner and Planner II for the city. Prior to his time in the Yampa Valley, Leeson began his career as a Planner with the City of Greeley before moving to Clarion Associates, LLC, a national land-use consulting firm.
“The Yampa Valley holds a special place in my heart and I’m excited to return in this new capacity,” commented Leeson. “The city has a highly skilled and talented team and I’m eager to share my insights so that together we can continue to ensure Steamboat Springs is a great place for its citizens.”
Leeson received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Massachusetts and holds two master’s degrees from the University of Colorado and University of Maryland.
