STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-March 19, 2020-Information is moving quickly and changing even faster around COVID-19, especially as it pertains to our community. The city and county, in conjunction with the Steamboat Pilot & Today, will be hosting a series of virtual town halls over the coming days to share information on a variety of areas.
“Through this forum, we hope to provide some of the answers to the more pressing questions our community has on a more constant basis,” commented Steamboat Springs City Council President Jason Lacy. “
Starting on Friday, March 20 at 10:30am, a panel of health experts will discuss issues and share information around the virus. Expected to join moderator Lisa Schlichtman, editor with the Steamboat Pilot & Today, will be Dr. Laura Sehnert with UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center, Dr. Brian Harrington-Routt County Public Health Medical Director, Interim Steamboat Springs Fire Chief Chuck Cerasoli and Routt County Public Health Director Kari Ladrow.
The session will center around health questions concerning COVID-19 and sharing current information on testing, protocols and information from these key services. The panel will not be open to the public, but instead will be carried on Comcast TV6 and livestreamed on the city’s website. The session will be available through these digital channels should folks miss the live airing.
“We believe there is a need to get this valuable information to our community,” said Routt County Commission Chair Tim Corrigan. “We’re all in this together and by sharing as much information as possible, we’ll all be in a better place to make decisions moving forward.”
Over the coming week, town hall topics will touch upon business, mental health, local government and more. Currently, a session is being planned for Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week.
While there are certainly more questions than the group will have time for, the city is accepting questions from the public at covid@steamboatsprings.net. Prior to each session, the city will assemble questions for the panelists.
