STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 24, 2019-It’s the season of giving, not taking as was the case this morning when Parks & Recreation staff found a Mugo Pine tree cut down in Little Toots Park.
“We know some folks wait till the last minute to get ready for Christmas, but this is taking it way too far,” commented Parks & Recreation Director Angela Cosby. “Cutting down a tree in one of your city parks will definitely land you on the naughty list with Santa and the Steamboat Springs Police.”
The city is asking for your help in finding the Grinch who tried to steal Christmas. It appears sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning, one of the Mugo Pine Trees in Little Toots Park was chopped down.
The tree was cut with an axe and the top of the tree taken (likely as somebody's holiday decoration). The rest of tree was left laying on the ground for parks staff to find Christmas eve morning.
