[ARCHIVED] Paving & Striping Program Underway

Paving NewsFlash

The City of Steamboat Springs will begin its annual paving and striping program on May 6, with paving expected to be completed around mid-June, followed by striping efforts beginning June 17 and completed around June 19.

City staff will work to minimize disruptions; however, residents are asked to please be patient as delays and/or detours could be encountered during the project. In addition, weather may cause delays and rescheduling.

The project consists of supplying and applying approximately 10,000 tons of asphalt and 90,000 yards of milling at the locations listed below across the city. The $1.2M contract was awarded to United Companies and will tackle 19 roadways and 3 parking lots during the multi-week program.

The City of Steamboat Springs maintains approximately 80 miles of streets and alleys within city limits. Most of these roadways are paved, resulting in 1.34 million square yards of maintained pavement.

In 2017, the city increased its annual allocation to the paving program in an effort to ensure roadways remain in a good or higher level condition based on industry standards. The city values its roadway network and preserving roads at these levels significantly reduces the cost of comprehensive repairs or complete replacement down the road.
