While many people will be out of town for spring break, city crews and local landscapers will be using the time to clean the landscaped medians along U.S. Highway 40 from downtown to JD Hays Way, as well as the Mount Werner Road medians and traffic circles.
“It’s not widely known that Parks & Recreation staff is responsible for these areas in addition to maintaining the city’s parks, Yampa River Core Trail and athletic fields,” commented Parks Supervisor Ernie Jenkins. “Our team takes great pride in their work and wants our outdoor spaces to positively reflect the overall community.”
The spring cleaning project will occur from Monday, April 22 through Friday, April 26, weather permitting. Efforts focus on removing scoria, debris and road grime from turf, garden and mulch beds, cleaning up pavers, inspecting irrigation systems and pruning and mulching of landscaped areas.
Work typically begins after 8:00 AM and finishes by 4:00 PM to minimize impacts during peak drive times. Left lanes may be closed in both directions, so expect possible delays. Please slowdown in work areas and drive safely. Thank you in advance for your patience.
