[ARCHIVED] Commercial River Operation Permits Reviews Forthcoming

River Commercial Operators NewsFlash

All businesses renewing their annual commercial operation permit and any new business interested in applying for commercial operations on the Yampa River must do so by March 1, 2019.

Commercial Operation Permits are being reviewed for the upcoming season. All annual operations and requests for new business must contact Parks & Recreation by 11:30am on Friday, March 1, with their request.

In addition, each operator will need to submit a detailed business/operating plan for their proposed use. Operating plans should include safety plans, daily numbers, times/areas of use, and demonstrate understanding of commercial guidelines and city planning codes.

Operators should be prepared to discuss their plan and answer questions if necessary. For a business that was grandfathered into the plan with specific uses, any new proposed use is required to be approved by the Commission (i.e., SUP, angling, rafting, etc.).

If the request is not made by March 1, your 2019 permitted river operations will not be considered.

The Commercial Use Guidelines from the Yampa River Management Plan (Appendix B, B-1) are available at the following link, http://co-steamboatsprings.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/7426, and should be reviewed prior to submitting a request.

On March 13, the Parks & Recreation Commission will be reviewing all commercial operations and requests for business on the Yampa River in town in 2019. Any business with annual permit approvals will need to renew for this season and should plan on attending the Commission meeting and be prepared to answer any questions. The meeting is at 5:30pm at Centennial Hall.
