[ARCHIVED] Open House Outlines 13th Street Improvements

13th St NewsFlash

A popular stretch and highly utilized section of 13th Street is readying for new sidewalks to assist pedestrians and bikers and increase their safety as they travel this main collector avenue.

On Tuesday evening, December 11, the City of Steamboat Springs and the project team will hold a public open house to discuss the 13th Street Sidewalk Improvements planned for the coming summer.  The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Community Center in Community Room West located at 1605 Lincoln Avenue.

The community will have an opportunity to meet with city staff and the project team to learn more about the improvements, possible impacts and timing.  The project will install an eight-foot sidewalk along the south side of the road running from the Yampa River Bridge near the Bud Werner Memorial Library to Lithia Springs Road.  During the open house, the following will be discussed:

  • Review the project design
  • Review the construction schedule
  • Public comment on the project

One-on-one meetings with interested parties who might not be able to attend the open house can be scheduled with staff. In addition, anyone wishing to discuss the plan in more technical detail than is presented during the open house is invited to reach out directly to city engineering.  Please contact Mike Beurskens at 970.871.8273 to schedule a one-on-one meeting or learn more about the open house.
