Criminal Justice Records
Criminal justice records are available per state statute.
- Report Request, Records Check, & Digital Media Request Form (PDF) Use this application to request a check on someone’s record, to request a copy of a report, or digital media.
- Statistical Request Form (PDF)Use this application if you are seeking a group of records meeting certain criteria (examples: calls for service at a certain address, offense type, incident nature, etc.). Responses to a statistical request will provide the requester with a list of records meeting the criteria in a list-based format. Responses will contain case numbers which can then be utilized to make requests for specific cases on the Report Copy Request Form.
Please read the instructions, fill out the application completely, and submit the correct fee with the completed application for your request. You can also obtain a paper application form for any request named above at the Police Department front desk Monday through Thursday, except for holidays, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, we are closed on Fridays. We only release the requested information to the Requester stated on the forms.
Release of Records
Most requests require a day or two to research after administrative approval. Some reports may be withheld until investigation is complete and most juvenile records are not releasable. If you need records from another state, county, or local agency, you will need to contact that agency, as we may only release our own local records. State-wide criminal arrest records and driving records are available from the Colorado Crime Information Center and the Colorado Department of Revenue. If you are the defendant in a pending case, you or your attorney can obtain case reports through the District Attorney’s Office located at 522 Lincoln Avenue or call their office at (970) 879-1146.
Victims of a criminal offense may receive one free copy of a report in which they are listed as the victim. This does not include video / audio tapes or photos. You can request a copy of your arrest record from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Copy of a Traffic Accident Report
To better serve citizens and insurance carriers in need of a traffic collision report, SSP have teamed with LexisNexis and implemented an online dissemination program to provide collision reports securely, online to involved parties, insurance companies, and other authorized parties.
Save time - there’s no need to spend the time or money on gas to request a report at the Records Division. Click on the icon below to obtain your report.
IMPORTANT: Please allow a minimum of 5 working days from the date of the accident to allow the report to be reviewed and approved for release. Traffic reports resulting in a death/fatality are not available online – please contact our Records Division directly for information on how to obtain these.
A nominal convenience fee will be assessed for the ability to retrieve your report online. Citizens who do not wish to pay the convenience fee may still come to our lobby front counter during business hours to obtain a collision report. See our Fee Schedule.
