Current State of Affordable HousingThe Steamboat Springs Chamber Economic Development Council, Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. and the Board of Realtors invite you to attend the Affordable Housing Forum Series at Rex’s American Grill. This is a 5 forum piece including economic sustainability, community workforce and public policy considerations. They will run from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. $15 each or all 5 for $70 (includes lunch). How is our community responding to the need for affordable housing? This will review our challenges, successes and current inventory of affordable housing. Three entities charged with the development of housing – the Yampa Valley Housing Authority, Habitat for Humanity and the City of Steamboat Springs – will review their activities, results, and mechanisms employed to keep this housing inventory permanently affordable. The City of Steamboat’s affordable housing policies including the Inclusionary Zoning and Linkage Ordinance will be explained and units created reviewed. Other Community efforts to promote affordable housing will also be discussed. The other 4 forums will be outlined at later times. Their dates include May 2, May 30, June 27, and July 25.
