Background Information
The history of the current facility and space needs assessments for a policy facility can be found here.

A volunteer Police Facility Committee was appointed to assist with the process of identifying a preferred location for the new Police Facility.  A list of committee members, minutes from each of the Police Facility Committee meetings, and public comment provided to the committee can be found here.

Location Criteria

Over the past two years, numerous properties have been investigated as possible locations for the police facility.  Features for an optimal site include:

  • Centrally located from a service and response perspective
  • 1 to 3 acres of land
  • Ability to contain costs within the proposed $8.9 million budget
  • Site analysis also takes into consideration:
    • Site work costs
    • Utility locations
    • Capacity for two access points
    • Topography and soil conditions
    • Ready access to US Highway 40
    • Neighborhood characteristics

Public Comment from Police Station Tours
