GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS SERVICES

A geographic information system (GIS) is a system for capturing, storing, analyzing and managing data and associated attributes which are spatially referenced to the earth. The GIS for the City of Steamboat Springs is designed to help provide better tools to improve the community's emergency response, assist with planning decisions, provide public information, and support the infrastructure of services the City maintains. GIS Services handles addressing and street naming, Internet mapping, custom map requests,technical support and development for all City departments, non-profits, and public projects. The primary goal of the City of Steamboat Springs' GIS Services is to distribute quality information throughout the community in a timely manner.
