New Ordinance Creating Fee Schedule for Excessive and/or Unnecessary Emergency Alarms

Excessive and/or unnecessary emergency alarms cause a significant misuse of the manpower and resources of the City of Steamboat Springs. When emergency personnel are dispatched to the scene of an emergency alarm, it renders them unavailable to respond to other calls. Many times it takes a significant amount of time to determine that the alarm was not due to a true emergency, tying up personnel and equipment that could be responding to legitimate emergencies.
