Hot Springs

Steamboat Springs was named for the chugging sound made by one of our geothermal hot springs - early settlers thought it sounded like a steamboat engine. The spring no longer chugs (blasting by the railroad silenced it in 1908), but warm mineral-rich waters still flow.
