Yampa River Bank Stabilization And Access Improvements Begin Next Week

The City of Steamboat Springs Parks and Community Services Department will be conducting river bank stabilization and access improvement work along the Yampa River near the Stockbridge Multi Modal Center.  The work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday November 14, 2017.

The purpose of the project is to stabilize eroding banks and improve recreational access points to the Yampa River within this stretch of river utilizing boulders and native riparian vegetation.  Additionally, fencing will be installed protecting these riparian areas.

The planned river work is being funded by a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado ($47,500) and city funds ($47,500). The plans have been reviewed and permitted by the Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Steamboat Springs Planning Services Department.

This work is estimated to take approximately two weeks.  Please respect and follow all detours and closures along the Yampa River Core Trail during the project.
