May 2017 Final Sales Tax Report

The City of Steamboat has published the final May 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. (See the Full Report.) The May 2017 Mountain Communities Report is also available. (See the Mountain Communities.)
 
The City of Steamboat has published the final May 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. City of Steamboat Springs’ May sales taxes are 4.51% more compared to the May 2016 collections or an increase of $55,156. Year to date sales tax collection is 3.68% more than year to date through May 2016.

When comparing this May to the prior May, the greatest categorical increases were in marijuana at 20.59% and lodging and amenities at 18.02%. Notable increases in collections by area were 18.14% for West Steamboat and 11.18% for the Regional area.

Accommodation Tax, with the passing of referendum 2A, is now primarily dedicated to local trail projects and Yampa Street improvements. Additionally, a small amount is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker. May collections saw an decrease of 24.72% compared to May 2016.

Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax audits completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. May 2017 use tax collections are $46,960 more compared to May 2016. Year to date use tax collections are $583,744 more through the same period last year.
