February 2017 Final Sales Tax Report

The City of Steamboat has published the final February 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. (See the Full Report.) The February 2017 Mountain Communities Report is also available. (See the Mountain Communities.)
The City of Steamboat has published the final February 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. City of Steamboat Springs’ February sales taxes are down 1.08% compared to the February 2016 collections or a slight decrease of $25,925.

Year to date sales tax collection is nominally more than year to date through the same period last year at a 1.98% increase.

When comparing this February to the prior February, the greatest categorical increase was in marijuana at 10.69%. A notable increase in collections by area was 18.34% for the regional area which typically includes utility companies or businesses without a fixed retail location in the City.

Accommodation Tax, with the passing of referendum 2A, is now primarily dedicated to local trail projects and Yampa Street improvements. Additionally, a small amount is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker. February collections saw a decrease of 1.65% compared to February 2016.

Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax audits completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. February 2017 use tax collections were $31,450.
