January 2017 Final Sales Tax Report

The City of Steamboat has published the final January 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. (See the Full Report.) The January 2017 Mountain Communities Report is also available. (See the Mountain Communities.)
 
The City of Steamboat has published the final January 2017 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. City of Steamboat Springs’ January sales taxes are 5.15% more than the January 2016 collections or an increase of $118,668.

When comparing this January to the prior January, the greatest categorical increases are in lodging and amenities at 9.84% and marijuana at 8.82%. A notable increase in collections by area was 15.60% for the regional area which typically includes utility companies or businesses without a fixed retail location in the City.

Accommodation Tax, with the passing of referendum 2A, is now primarily dedicated to local trail projects and Yampa Street improvements. Additionally, a small amount is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker. January collections saw an increase of 9.85% compared to January 2016.

Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax audits completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. January 2017 use tax collections were $175,816.
