January 2018 Final Sales Tax Report

The City of Steamboat has published the final January 2018 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. (See the Full Report.) The January 2018 Mountain Communities Report is also available. (See the Mountain Communities.)

The City of Steamboat has published the final January 2018 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. City of Steamboat Springs’ January sales taxes are 8.72% more compared to the January 2017 collections or an increase of $211,977. For the past 5 years, January collections represent about 10% of annual collections.

When comparing this January to the prior January, the greatest categorical increases were in Marijuana at 16.44% and Miscellaneous Retail at 16.42% Notable increases in collections by area were 30.88% for the Regional area and 14.24% for the Highway 40 Corridor area.

Accommodation Tax, with the passing of referendum 2A, is now primarily dedicated to local trail projects and Yampa Street improvements. Additionally, a small amount is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker. January collections were 11.23% greater than the same period last year.

Building Use Tax is used to fund capital projects for the City of Steamboat Springs. This tax fluctuates depending on building permits issued, use tax audits completed, and the size and number of developments in the City. January net use tax collections totaled $32,982
