UPDATE 9/10/2020 Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these unique and challenging times.
We have been continually monitoring local and state health guidelines, and have been working closely with other local and state recreation organizations to best interpret the current guidelines, and apply those guidelines to our various programs. In addition to current health guidelines, we are also needing to factor in budgets, staffing capacity and community impact, when making decisions about our fall recreation leagues.
Although some of the rules and guidelines around outdoor and adult recreation have loosened over the past couple months, there are still many hurdles and restrictions that make hosting large group gatherings extremely difficult, if not impossible. At this time, group sizes for adult sports leagues are limited to 25 people, social distancing of 6 feet or more is still required, masks are encouraged during recreation, and it’s highly encouraged that games only take place every two weeks.
We have spent a great deal of time over the past few months developing proposed mitigation plans and brainstorming numerous scenarios in which we could safely host a fall kickball season. After weeks of thoughtful discussion and debate, we have decided NOT to move forward with the City of Steamboat Springs Fall Kickball League this season. While we know that many of you will be disappointed by this decision, we feel as though this is the best course forward for the health and safety of our staff, our participants, and the community as a whole.
We appreciate your understanding and hope to see you on the field next fall.
The adult Fall Kickball League will not be offered this year due to the current state and local health guidelines concerning COVID-19.
